Bristol Flyers II 36 - 4 Leadonites
Like rabbits in the headlights the Leadonites boys struggled to move let alone find a foothold in this opening encounter. Dylan Kitchen scored whilst being fouled, in the second half but was unable to sink the and1 shot. The Leadonites second basket came as time expired and Finlay Chalkley scored a free throw for two points.
Gloucester Saxons 35 - 0 Leadonites
Possibly the worst performance ever by a Leadonites team of any age at any time during the club's 19 month existence. And with Kitchin's missed free-throw as time elapsed on the second half this was certainly the first time that a Leadonites team has failed to score even one basket in a match. Lack of fight, lack movement and an inexplicable inability not just to shoot the ball but even to take a shot were the main causes of such an uninspiring performance from the Ledbury team. One bright spot was the effort shown by debutante Gwilym Kemp.

Team Gloster Jets
(report as submitted to the Ledbury Reporter)
Having suffered predictably heavy defeats against higher
graded opponents in Bristol Flyers and Gloucester Saxons and with only baskets
from Dylan Kitchin and Finlay Chalkley to show for their below par efforts,
hopes were higher for Leadonites’ last match of Saturday’s Glozball U14s CVL in
Gloucester.
The match started well with George Robb scoring the first
of his game high 8 points in the first minute. But missed free throws from Josh
Spriggs and Alessio Miccio together with loose team defence contributed to Jets
establishing an 8-2 lead before Leadonites were able to strike back. Two
baskets from Chalkley either side of Miccio scoring his first points of the day
left the half-time score level at 8 points all.
A missed free throw from Michael French, poor rotation of
substitutions and contestable refereeing calls saw Jets go on an 8-0 run to
lead 16-8 mid-way through the second half. Debutante Gwilym Kemp fouled out of
the match forcing his team mates to up their efforts and the Ledbury team
started their fight back. However, a combined 10 points from scores by Miccio
and Robb proved too little, too late; leaving this low on confidence Leadonites
team ruing the one that got away.
